Effectiveness of fluid viscous damper for steel frame building subjected to earthquake load

Since the appearance of first modern multistories buildings, besides demand ensuring bearing capacity, one urgent problems facing engineer is to do how design structure ensure requirements normal use such as displacement, motion acceleration within permissible limits. There exist many methods reduce these response under lateral load. Among these, using fluid viscous damper (FVD) most applied equipment because its simplicity. This paper presents examination eight-story steel frame subjected seismic The FVD system defined in Etabs with link properties. In each story, four dampers are located direction plan, two on side center stiffness story. time history analysis was conducted study seimic load collected from function library program Etabs. effect determined by dynamic building and displacement indexes maximum roof, story drift ratio. results show that, all characters were decreased significantly when providing it.
